November 27: Stefan Novakovic on Frank Gehry’s Dancing Building in Prague

A senior editor at Azure magazine, and one of the country’s most exciting architecture speakers, Stefan Novakovic makes his Speakers Annex debut with this exciting tribute to this Frank Gehry stunner, nestled on the banks of the Vltava river in Prague. As he recounts the building’s intriguing backstory, emerging on a site of great historical import during the 1990s, Stefan will examine its architect’s brilliant career, from local Toronto to architectural icon, as well as the broader story of the stunning city around it, which has had an outsized impact on modern architecture. Drawing on his own rich sense of perspective as a Prague native, born and raised in the city, he’ll help us understand how this cultural hotbed, at the crossroads of different empires and architectural styles, came to emerge as a design beacon in the years before, during and after the Cold War.
